New Month, New Color

This months color on the RSC (Rainbow Scrap Challenge) at SoScrappy is BROWN. I have quite a bit of brown and it was fun to open the Selvedge container and rummage thru it and get a few blocks madethis past week.
The first block I made was Rainbow Twist. I am only making one this month. It will take 20 (16") blocks to make a nice size quilt so I will decide how many I want to make as the months come up. So far I have a total of 4.
I really like this block. I am using the same background print thru out the quilt and have them all cut out along with the binding!
Next, I made 3 That Thirties' Thing blocks. It's a paper pieced block. These were made in no time at all!
And today I made 12 Scrappy 8" blocks. I actually cut one of them 1/4" too short, but I think I will still be able to use it. I haven't decided how I will use them in a quilt. I'm toying with the idea of cutting them in half diagonally. That will be a decision made much later!
Here are the first six.
And the next six.
Needless to say, it didn't make a dent in my selvedges, but every little bit used just makes me feel good!! I LOVE using my stash.
i want to show you one more thing while I have you here!! I had planned on getting this quilt put together. I finally got all the blocks done, although one is missing in the pic. These blocks were sold as a block of the month from The Quilted Owl in New Orleans. They let me buy all of the patterns at once when I told them I was moving away in 2014. I started on them last year as my "TV watching" project!! I can't wait to get this quilt put together and have a permanent home on the back of my couch! I love it here in Texas, but I do miss New Orleans!
Those purple bars you see are doggie grooming bars that I use to hold up my quilt when quilting on my HQ Sixteen. They really work. And the round orange thing you see hanging on the left is my earbuds case I made! My design wall isn't in the best spot, but it is in the ONLY empty wall I have in my studio!!
I can't wait to see what everyone has made with their BROWNS this week. So hop on over to SoScrappy with me and let's enjoy the show!
..........Sew till next time..........

Lots of pretty brown blocks. String blocks is next on my brown list to make. I like your New Orleans quilt. My son and his family lives in New Orleans. Enjoy Mardi Gras this week. I sure would like a King Cake.

You must have lots of brown scraps, since you made so many brown blocks. The dog things are a good idea.

Beautiful blocks! (I'm making notes of block ideas for next year, based on yours. Love the first two especially!)
I'm looking forward to watching your collection of blocks grow as the year progresses. You're going to have such fun playing with arrangements!

The new block is very nice for scraps, and the background color makes it not too scrappy. Your selvages are a nice accent in all the projects. Keep up the good work!

Hard to believe that you didn't make a dent with all those great string blocks. Great start to brown!

Great brown blocks. Love the "twist" block. I have a similar problem with design wall placement and taking good photos. Oh well at least there's room for a design wall. Sure saves the knees using a design floor.
